Carpel Tunnel Syndrome

This common condition is a wrist problem involving the delicate wrist joints and the median nerve that innervates the arm. It is often caused by a trama to the hand and wrist such as a compressing force from an  auto accident, fall with hands extended, or similar action, or it may come from repetitive extension of the hands and wrist as in typing or computer work. With the widespread use of computers worldwide, carpel tunnel is increasingly prelevant everywhere. Although surgery can be effective for a period, increasingly there is widespread recurrent symptoms in patients who continue typing even after surgery was performed. Dr Halverson has treated hundreds of cases of carpel tunnel over his career and learned about successful treatment often without surgery when he was a menber of the Workers` Comp team at General Motors 24,000 employee plant in Doraville, Ga. Dr Halverson treated many patients with carpel tunnel successfully because of the repetitive nature of working with torque wrenches that members of auto assembly teams performed. Interestingly, a small bone in the wrist named "lunate" for its 1/2 moon shape sits near the median nerve, and proper sdjustments to this bone are often very successful relieving the problem. We also use specific medical massage techniques to free the ligaments and muscles of the wrist, along with laser therapy, which has a long track record for successful carpel tunnel treatment, and exercises to restore the strength of the affected wrist once the pain is relieved. This regimen of care has proven highly effective. Call us for a carpel tunnel screening!
